WoW Forever Druid Guide: Builds, Roles and Leveling
Our WoW Forever Druid class guide shows how to tank, heal or deal damage with Balance, Feral and Restoration: what changed, builds, races and professions. We say how sure we are about each point, because Forever launches on 4 November 2026 and much of what we know comes from Blizzard's class deep dive and the beta notes.

Druid at a Glance
Blizzard confirms the Druid can fill every role. The table shows confirmed roles; no source names a best spec for solo play, damage, PvP or raids.
| Spec | Role | Scenarios | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| Balance | Ranged damage | Dungeons and raids; solo and PvP untested | Wrath is cheap but weaker, and Moonkin Aura is a raid wide buff. |
| Feral, Bear | Tank | Dungeon tanking, a confirmed role | Rebuilt as a full tank with Primal Bite, Lacerate and more threat. |
| Feral, Cat | Melee damage | Dungeons and raids; the most solo evidence | Feral Charge at 11 points and Shifting Power at 16; Tiger's Fury is gone. |
| Restoration | Healer | Dungeon healing, a confirmed role | A heal over time healer that Blizzard calls more limited than Priests. |
What Changed in Forever
Blizzard says Forever is not a version of Classic. Two Classic assumptions are now wrong: Druids have an ordinary resurrection, and Swiftmend is no longer a level 40 capstone.
- Talents were redesigned (confirmed by Blizzard). Talents start at level 10. Each tree has one point milestone talents at 11, 21 and 31 points, plus a new milestone at 16 points.
- Revive at level 12 (confirmed by Blizzard). An out of combat resurrection.
- Forms (seen in beta, may change at launch). Potions and almost all consumables work in form, as do weapon enchants and procs, racials and most objects. Auto attack in form uses your weapon's damage, and forms are immune to Disarm.
- New baseline spells (seen in beta). Nature's Grasp at 10, Omen of Clarity at 20, Shred rank 1 at 20 and Lacerate at 42.
- Feral energy (seen in beta). Tiger's Fury was removed. Shifting Power, the Cat side of the 16 point Feral milestone, turns mana into 40 energy. Furor no longer allows bear weaving, but you keep your energy through Bear Form.
- Feral talents (confirmed by Blizzard). Feral Charge at 11 points, with a Cat version; Primal Bite at 16, a Bear ability that replaces Mangle; Leader of the Pack at 21; Berserk at 31.
- Bear tanking (confirmed by Blizzard, tuned in beta). Thick Hide turns Defense into armor, and Growl's cooldown now matches the Warrior's Taunt. The 8 October notes raised Bear threat by 50%.
- Balance (confirmed by Blizzard, tuned in beta). Nature's Splendor at 11 points and Insect Swarm at 16, with Eclipse and Moonkin Form in the tree. Wrath is now cheap with lower damage, and its ranks were reflowed. Moonkin Aura now gives raid wide spell crit only.
- Restoration (confirmed by Blizzard, tuned in beta). Gift of the Earthmother at 11 points, Swiftmend at 16, which no longer consumes the heal over time, and Wild Growth at 31, a party heal over time. Tranquility, Rejuvenation and Wild Growth can crit.
- Raid buffs (seen in beta). Leader of the Pack gives raid wide melee and ranged crit, and Moonkin Aura raid wide spell crit.
- Skyborne Druids (confirmed by Blizzard). Skyborne of both factions can be Druids, with their own druid forms.
- Stats were merged (confirmed by Blizzard). Spell, melee and ranged hit are one stat, and so is crit. Bonus healing also grants a third as much bonus damage.
Specs and Roles
Balance
Balance is ranged damage built on Nature's Splendor, Insect Swarm, Eclipse and Moonkin Form. Wrath is cheaper and weaker than in Classic. The 21 and 31 point Balance talents, and Moonkin Form's slot, are not named in our sources.
Feral Combat
Feral covers two roles. In Bear Form you tank with Primal Bite, Lacerate, Thick Hide and higher threat. In Cat Form you deal melee damage, with Shifting Power instead of Tiger's Fury. Feral Charge works in both forms, and Leader of the Pack at 21 points and Berserk at 31 sit deeper in the tree.
Restoration
Restoration heals mostly through heals over time. Swiftmend at 16 points keeps your heal over time running, and Wild Growth at 31 covers your party. The 21 point Restoration talent is not named in our sources.
Best Builds by Scenario
Exact point layouts are not safe to publish yet: Moonkin Aura and Leader of the Pack changed on 15 October. Each section says which way the evidence points and what to look for in the launch trees.
Solo Leveling
Blizzard has not named a best leveling spec. Classic leveling advice was Feral for solo play and Restoration for steady groups, and Forever gives Feral some support: Feral Charge at 11 points, Shifting Power at 16, and forms that keep potions, enchants and procs. Balance Wrath is cheap but weak. Nobody has shown which spec levels fastest.
What to look for:
- Feral Charge and Shifting Power. Both arrive while leveling.
- Your weapon. Auto attack in form uses your weapon's damage, so weapon upgrades matter even as a Feral Druid.
- Consumables in form. Potions now work without leaving form.
- Two gear sets. Keep Intellect and Spirit pieces for healing and physical pieces for Feral, and swap before the pull.
Dungeon Tanking
Feral Bear is a confirmed tank. Primal Bite, Lacerate, the 50% Bear threat bonus and Thick Hide's Defense to armor conversion were added to make Bear a full tank. Look for Defense on gear, since Thick Hide turns it into armor, and use Growl knowing its cooldown now matches Taunt. Set your pulls to the healer's mana and the group's crowd control; Forever keeps both threat and crowd control in dungeons.
Dungeon Healing
Restoration is a confirmed healer. Blizzard calls Druid healing more limited than Priest healing and reliant on heals over time, so plan around Rejuvenation, Swiftmend and, at 31 points, Wild Growth. Carry drinks and a healing gear set. When you compare dungeon healing with questing, count group search, travel, drinking and failed runs before calling it faster.
Dungeon Damage
Cat and Balance both deal damage in dungeons, and which is better is unknown. Leader of the Pack and Moonkin Aura are raid wide buffs, so either spec brings something to the group. Beta dungeons at the level 30 cap included Wailing Caverns, Shadowfang Keep, Razorfen Kraul and Scarlet Monastery, plus new dungeons such as Hall of Thanes.
PvP
The best PvP spec is unknown. Blizzard names the Druid's weaknesses: no snare, no interrupt and weak crowd control. Forms are immune to Disarm (seen in beta). Forever's PvP has Honor, seasonal Rank Points with a weekly cap, and the new 15 versus 15 Darkspear Islands battleground for levels 30 to 60 (confirmed by Blizzard).
Raids
Raids open on 9 December 2026: Hyjal Summit for 20 players and the Barrow Deeps for 10 players at maximum level (confirmed by Blizzard). The best raid spec is unknown. Moonkin Aura and Leader of the Pack are raid utility, and whether Rebirth changed is not stated. Dual spec at 40 lets you keep two of your roles ready.
Leveling Milestones
| Level | What Happens | How Sure |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 12 | Skyborne start on Zephras Isle; other races use the classic starting zones | Zephras Isle confirmed; classic zones seen in beta |
| 10 | First talent point; Nature's Grasp | Talents confirmed; Nature's Grasp seen in beta |
| 12 | Revive | Confirmed |
| 20 | Omen of Clarity and Shred rank 1 | Seen in beta |
| 30 | The beta's level cap since 1 October; nothing above it was tested | Seen in beta |
| 40 | Dual spec | Confirmed |
| 40 | Riding at 60% speed, with a mount granted when you train | Mount model confirmed; level and speed datamined |
| 42 | Lacerate | Seen in beta |
| 60 | Level cap; raids open 9 December | Confirmed |
Blizzard has not said how many talent points you get per level. Third party tools assume one per level from 10, which would put the 16 point milestone at 25, the 21 point milestone at 30 and the 31 point milestone at 40. The Legacy perk Talented grants talent points up to five levels early (confirmed by Blizzard). Respecs cost 1 silver on the beta only; at launch the cost rises after the first reset and decays over time (seen in beta).
Races
Druid race options, from a third party race and class matrix that agrees with Blizzard's announcements:
- Alliance: Night Elf and Skyborne (High Order).
- Horde: Tauren and Skyborne (Windshaper).
Skyborne choose their faction at character creation, start on Zephras Isle for levels 1 to 12, and need the Skyborne Heroic Pack or a higher edition (confirmed by Blizzard). The classic starting zones remain, including Teldrassil and Mulgore.
Each race has two active and two passive racials, rebalanced to roughly equal offensive value (confirmed by Blizzard). The 15 October beta notes list these, which may change at launch:
- Night Elf: Quickness, whose movement speed stacks with other speed effects, and Wisp Form.
- Tauren: Endurance (+2% crit damage and healing), Plainsrunning (+3% mounted speed, which needs real movement), Cultivation (gathers an herb on a 15 minute cooldown) and War Stomp on a 90 second cooldown.
- Skyborne: Wind Blessed (+3% haste), Skysight, Read Leyline and Walk on Air on a 90 second cooldown.
Racials can be used in form (seen in beta). No source shows a race that changes Druid results, so pick the faction and look you want.
Professions That Fit
Our suggested pair for a Druid is Alchemy and Herbalism, and Forever makes it a better fit. See the Druid professions section for more.
- Potions work in form (seen in beta). Your own potions now serve you as a Bear or Cat.
- Camp objects (confirmed by Blizzard). Alchemists can place an Alchemy Lab at camp, and the Herbalist's Incense Candle gives Intellect. Objects start at profession skill 20, and camp buffs do not stack with the matching class buffs.
- Tauren Cultivation (seen in beta). It gathers herbs at a player level of the herb's level divided by 5.
- An Engineering option (confirmed by Blizzard). New SAF-T and EZ-Thro bombs can be used while shapeshifted.
- Classic cooldowns are unverified. Transmutes and the Classic profession specializations have no Forever source yet.
- Legacy can help. The Reagent Economy perk makes class reagents free (confirmed by Blizzard).

- Whether Alchemy transmutes and the Classic profession specializations exist in Forever.
Item stats on our Forever database pages are Classic Era copies and are not reliable for Forever, since Blizzard reworked dungeon loot. Classic best in slot lists do not apply.
Forever is new, and we update this page as launch details are confirmed. For the wider picture, see the WoW Forever hub, the leveling guide and the Forever map, or read the Mage and Warlock guides.
