Raid GuideRetail

Boss abilities and loot tables from Blizzard's own journal, boss by boss.

The Firelands is the molten domain forged by the titans to house Ragnaros and his wayward minions. Following Deathwing's emergence into Azeroth, Ragnaros and his servants surged onto the slopes of Mount Hyjal before being driven back by the sacred mountain's valiant defenders. Now Ragnaros is rallying his loyalists to defend the Firelands from Azeroth's champions.

Bosses

1. Beth'tilac

Matriarch of the Cinderweb Brood, Beth'tilac and her merciless offspring sate their appetites by sucking the magma and fire from the corpses of elementals. To provide her broodlings with added sustenance, Beth'tilac has woven a network of incendiary webs throughout her lair to trap unsuspecting prey.

Abilities

  • Overview

Beth'tilac begins the encounter above the playspace and will come down after she has cast [Smoldering Devastation] three times. Players can access this area by interacting with a Cinderweb Spinner's webstring and deal some damage Beth'tilac before she descends for Stage Two. Once Beth'tilac descends players must defeat Beth'tilac before her [Frenzy] level becomes too much to survive.

  • Stage One: The Cinderweb

Beth'tilac retreats to the top of her web at the beginning of the encounter.

  • Stage Two: The Frenzy!

After she has performed Smoldering Devastation three times, Beth'tilac enters a frenzy. She lowers herself from the safety of the top of her Cinderweb and no longer calls for aid from her brood.

2. Lord Rhyolith

Rhyolith is one of the most ancient elementals in existence, born from the primordial fires that forged Azeroth itself. He is responsible for the creation of new elementals in the Firelands and still possesses a searing hatred of the titans for what he considers monumental arrogance in relocating him.

Abilities

  • Overview

The encounter consists of two stages. In Stage One, players must force Rhyolith to step on randomly spawned volcanoes by hitting either of his feet. Damaging one foot more than the other causes Rhyolith to walk in that direction. Evenly damaging the two feet will force Rhyolith to walk in a straight line. Stage Two is a race to defeat Rhyolith before his Immolation ability burns the raid down.

  • Stage One: Nuisances, Nuisances!

Lord Rhyolith ignores players while his armor is intact, but they can attack his feet to control his movement.

  • Stage Two: Now you will BURN!

When Lord Rhyolith reaches 25% remaining health, his Obsidian armor shatters. He becomes attackable and no longer ignores players.

3. Alysrazor

When Ragnaros's forces surged into Mount Hyjal, the green dragon Alysra betrayed her allies and helped liberate the traitorous archdruid Fandral Staghelm. As a reward, she was purified with fire and reborn as a fearsome fire hawk.

Abilities

  • Overview

The fight begins with some members of your raid collecting Molten Feathers to fly after Alysrazor while the rest of the raid stays below to handle several adds. Once this stage ends, players must regroup down on the ground and avoid Alysrazor's attacks before she spends all of her energy, making her vulnerable for a short time. Once she has regained half of her energy she becomes active again, fi

  • Firestorm

At the beginning of the battle Alysrazor ascends into the sky, inflicting 0 Fire damage to players and knocking them back. Alysrazor continues to inflict 0 Fire damage to players every 1 sec. for 10 sec.

  • Volcanic Fire

A massive eruption creates patches of Fire which block escape from Alysrazor's domain. Volcanic Fire patches inflict 0 Fire damage to players within 6 yards every 1 sec.

  • Stage One: I Will Burn You From the Sky!

Alysrazor flies around the arena, allowing her minions to corner her foes far below. She periodically flies through the center of the arena to claw at foes.

  • Stage Two: The Skies are Mine!

Alysrazor flies in a tight circle, removes Wings of Flame from all players after 5 seconds, and then begins her ultimate attack.

  • Stage Three: Burnout!

Alysrazor crashes to the ground with 0 Molten Power and becomes vulnerable. This stage lasts until Alyrazor's energy bar reaches 50 Molten Power.

4. Shannox

The flamewakers are among the most feared elemental guardians in the Firelands. Shannox is no exception. Serving as the chief hunter and kennel master of Ragnaros's hell hounds, Shannox patrols the elemental realm with his two most ferocious beasts: Riplimb and Rageface.

Abilities

  • Overview

Shannox will not appear until you have slain a large number of the enemies in the zone. Once engaged, Shannox will attack you with his two companions: Rageface and Riplimb. Shannox will throw his spear and lay down Crystal Prison Traps periodically while Rageface attacks players at random and Riplimb must be tanked. When either Rageface or Riplimb are defeated, Shannox will Frenzy. When Shan

  • Immolation Trap

Immolation Trap inflicts 0 Fire damage, 0 Fire damage every 3 sec., and increases the target's damage taken by 40% for 9 sec.

  • Crystal Prison Trap

Shannox launches a prison trap at a random player's location. The trap arms after 2 seconds, then detonates when either a player or one of Shannox's pets steps over the trap. The Crystal Prison trap encases the target in a block of magma crystal, preventing all movement and any other action. Destroying the crystal prison frees a trapped player.

  • Arcing Slash

Shannox inflicts 0% of normal melee damage in a 120 degree cone up to 10 yards in front of him, and inflicts Jagged Tear on his current target.

  • Hurl Spear

The spear strike also triggers a cascade of molten eruptions around the impact location, inflicting 0 Fire damage to enemies caught in an eruption. Riplimb will then break off from combat, fetch the spear, and re

  • Frenzy

When the players defeat Riplimb or Rageface, Shannox enters a frenzy. This increases his Physical damage by 30% and attack speed by 30%. This effect stacks twice.

5. Baleroc, the Gatekeeper

Baleroc earned a reputation as a merciless combatant during the elemental wars of ancient Azeroth. Now that he is confined to the Firelands, Baleroc's sanity has dwindled. Few elementals dare disturb him, fearful that they will become victim to his battle lust.

Abilities

  • Overview

The raid will need to take advantage of [Blaze of Glory] on tanks and [Vital Spark] on healers in order to keep the tanks alive as Baleroc alternates between using his [Inferno Blade] and [Decimation Blade] abilities. To give healers more stacks of [Vital Spark], the damage dealers will need to coordinate standing near Shards of Torment in turn.

  • Blaze of Glory

Baleroc's assault periodically awakens a burning spark within his current target, increasing the target's physical damage taken by 20%, but also raising their maximum health by 20%. Every time Baleroc applies Blaze of Glory, he gains an application of Incendiary Soul.

  • Shards of Torment

Baleroc summons crystals amongst his foes, which continually channels a shadowy beam on the nearest player.

  • Blades of Baleroc

Baleroc periodically empowers one of his blades with Shadow or Fire energy, and wields it alone for 15 sec.

  • Countdown

Baleroc links two players to each other for 8 sec. If the chosen players move within 4 yards of each other, the effect dissipates harmlessly. If the effect runs its full course, then both players explode, inflicting 0 Fire damage to all players within 100 yards.

6. Majordomo Staghelm

The loss of his son, Valstann, in the War of the Shifting Sands utterly shattered Fandral Staghelm's spirit. Now empowered by Ragnaros as the new Majordomo of the Firelands (replacing the deceased Majordomo Executus) and the leader of the treacherous Druids of the Flame, Fandral seeks to bring ruin to Azeroth rather than live in a world without his beloved child.

Abilities

  • Overview

Majordomo Staghelm will change form based on how many players are standing together or separated. Each form has its own abilities that will be used more frequently the longer he is in any given form. Each time Majordomo Staghelm changes forms he will gain [Fury]. He will change into a scorpion if the raid is standing together or into a cat when the raid is spread out. After every third shift he

  • Concentration

Each player who engages Fandral on Heroic Difficulty gains a Concentration power bar. This bar fills over time, increasing damage and healing done by 25% for every 25 Concentration up to 100. Players hit by a damaging attack or spell lose all Concentration.

  • Shapeshifting

Fandral transforms into a Cat when his enemies are not clustered together or into a Scorpion when many of his enemies are clustered together. On every third transform, Fandral briefly pauses in Night Elf form.

7. Ragnaros

Ragnaros, lord of the Firelands, embodies the fury and destruction of the primordial infernos that forged Azeroth itself. Promised the chance to set Azeroth aflame without interference from Neptulon and Therazane, Ragnaros seeks to appease the Old Gods by incinerating the World Tree of Nordrassil.

Abilities

  • Stage One: By Fire Be Purged!

  • Stage Three: Begone From My Realm!

Ragnaros faces the location of a random player and prepares to smash Sulfuras on the platform. The impact of Sulfuras inflicts 0 Fire damage to any player within 5 yards of the impact, and creates several Lava Waves which move out from the point of impact.
