Vault of the Wardens

Vault of the Wardens

Dungeon GuideRetail

Boss abilities and loot tables from Blizzard's own journal, boss by boss.

This secret Warden facility was carved into the mountainside deep in Azsuna, and sealed with magical wards both to keep intruders out, and to ensure that the terrors locked within could never escape. Many of the most dangerous foes the Wardens have encountered were locked away within the Vault, but in the aftermath of Cordana's betrayal and the Legion's attack, those creatures now roam the halls freely.

Written notes for this instance are a later milestone. Everything on this page comes from Blizzard's journal data.

Bosses

1. Tirathon Saltheril

Once ally to the Master, Tirathon made a bargain with the Legion in exchange for more power. Embittered after years of imprisonment, Tirathon is eager to dole out pain and suffering to whomever crosses his path. If that happens to be one of his former captors, then so much the better.

Abilities

  • Overview

Tirathon begins the fight in his blood elf form, but uses Metamorphosis halfway through the encounter. Tirathon changes to one of two demonic forms at this time and uses new and altered abilities. The form that Tirathon chooses changes from week to week.

  • Tirathon, Fallen Hunter
  • Demon Form: Havoc

Tirathon metamorphoses into a Havoc demon. He gains the ability to focus his hatred as a beam of fel energy and he periodically Immolates the entire party.

  • Demon Form: Vengeance

Tirathon metamorphoses into a Vengeance demon. He looses his glaives to fly about the arena with a Fel Chain between them. In addition, Furious Blast is replaced with Fel Mortar.

Loot

2. Inquisitor Tormentorum

Of all the foul creatures that serve the Legion, the hooded inquisitors are perhaps the most mysterious, and most menacing. Tormentorum arrived in the aftermath of the initial assault upon the vault. As he drifts through the halls of the Vault, his gaze piercing the shadows in search of some vital secret, even other demons give him a wide berth.

Abilities

  • Overview

Inquisitor Tormentorum siphons the energy of players and opens prisons at random. These prisons release additional enemies that players must deal with or risk getting overwhelmed.

  • Sap Soul
  • Summon Tormenting Orb
  • Open Prisons

Inquisitor opens groups of prison cells during the encounter.

Loot

3. Ash'golm

Ash'golm was one of Ragnaros' lieutenants who burned a violent scar across the forests of Kalimdor before the Wardens finally managed to bind him. Unable to fully destroy Ash'golm, the Wardens locked him in a prison of ice. Unfortunately, the recent incursion by the Legion has weakened the containment that kept Ash'golm frozen all these years....

Abilities

  • Overview

Ash'golm gradually fills the chamber with [Volcanic Eruption]s and [Burning Embers] until he is frozen by the Warden's [Deepfreeze Containment]. Once frozen, Ash'golm and all Living Embers becomes [Brittle] until he reheats and begins to fill the chamber with flame again.

  • Deepfreeze Containment
  • Volcanic Eruption
  • Burning Embers
  • Searing Mountain

Loot

4. Glazer

Like many demons of this type, Glazer can focus his gaze into a potent weapon against his enemies. The Wardens discovered that the creature's magical emissions could be reflected back to their source, to debilitating effect. They used this knowledge to ensnare the demon, and crafted a special prison of mirrors to contain its power. Until now.

Abilities

  • Overview

Glazer releases chaotic orbs from [Ocular Blast] that bounce around the arena. Upon reaching 100 energy, Glazer begins casting [Focused Beam] that can only be interrupted by reflecting it back at him.

  • Focused Beam
  • Ocular Blast
  • Lingering Felgaze

Loot

5. Cordana Felsong

Traitor. Betrayer. Outcast. Cordana was among the vanguard that pursued Garrosh into the Dark Portal, fighting by Khadgar's side and working to thwart the influence of the Shadow Council. But Gul'dan's dark sorcery wormed its way into her heart, turning her into the warlock's ultimate pawn. Once a paragon of duty, she will now forever be known as the instrument of the Wardens' undoing.

Abilities

  • Overview

Using Elune's Light to properly counter Cordana's abilities is key to successfully defeating her.

  • Elune's Light

Elune's Light can be acquired from the Glowing Sentry on Illidan's platform, and can be picked up during the encounter when it is removed by Cordana's various abilities.

  • Deepening Shadows
  • Knockdown Kick
  • Detonating Moonglaive
  • Shadowstep

When Cordana Shadowsteps away, an Avatar of Shadow is summoned. The Avatar of Shadow will steal Elune's Light, disabling the light until the Avatar of Shadow is defeated.
